- Check and clean spindle drive motor, motor control equipment, spindle bearings and other equipment associated with the spindle such as gearbox, drive belts, threading equipment, chuck and running joint etc.. Check and change motor and tacho brushes if necessary.
- Check and clean all axis drives including motors, motor control equipment, ball screws and slides. Check and change motor & tacho brushes if necessary.
- All ancillary equipment such as parts catcher, tailstock, turrets, work steadies, conveyor and bar feed unit to be cleaned, tested for operation and adjusted where necessary.
- Clean lubrication tank, change lubrication oil and check for correct distribution of oil around machine.
- Clean hydraulic tank, change oil and filter ( if fitted ).
- Change all air filters and check operation of all fans.
- Drain coolant tank and clean or replace strainer. If any serious problems are found during this service the customer will be advised accordingly. Extra work of this nature will be charged at our normal rates.
Machine Refurbishment
Our team of dedicated electrical and mechanical engineers are experienced in refurbishing and completely reconditioning CNC machines.
Machines are stripped down to base castings, thoroughly cleaned and subsequently rebuilt to the original manufacturer’s specifications. All parts subject to wear such as slideways, ball screws and bearings are inspected and refurbished, repaired, re-ground or replaced as necessary.
Work such as slideway and ballscrew re-grinding is a specialist activity and is therefore sub-contracted to proven quality suppliers.
The customer is notified of major machine damage found during the machine rebuild. If the rebuild is being carried out at our works, the machine is made available at any time for customer's inspection.
CNC System Retrofit
An extensive retrofitting service is available and includes CAD documentation, electrical panel building and full electrical and mechanical installation. A complete set of drawings will be supplied, either on paper, on floppy disk or both.
Machines are retrofitted with modern computerized numerical control systems, AC or DC variable speed spindle drives and motors, AC or DC servo drives and motors.
This service is complemented by the design of quality machine-dedicated software for user-friendly machine operation.
Unlike some of our competitors, who offer standard "packaged" retrofits, we are able to tailor our work to suit the customers actual requirements. We are willing to discuss the project to determine any special requirements our client may have. Individual design requirements are accommodated as part of the overall service with our engineers often finding ingenious and innovative solutions to production problems, helping customers across the World to draw optimum performance from CNC machine tools.
All main aspects of the work including electrical design, software design, panel building and electrical wiring is carried out by our own engineers giving us total control of the project and enables us to maintain our quality standards and delivery dates.
Controls and Drives

We offer a repair facility for a wide range of FANUC, GEC, GE and SIEMENS products including axis drives, spindle drives and CNC control systems. Service exchange cards and parts are often available from stock. Repairs can usually be completed within five working days.
In addition to this, we are able to offer a repair only service on customers own boards. As a standard part of this service, to ensure that any conductive deposits are removed, boards will be ultrasonically cleaned before repair commences. Depending on the type of board certain components will be removed before cleaning. All boards are subjected to a full dynamic test either in a CNC test system or in one of our bench-test drive units while connected to an appropriate motor.
